What is mohair?
Mohair is the fine, silky fibre from the Angora goat. These goats are farmed here in New Zealand. They are shorn twice a year to produce this gorgeous fibre (the shearing process does not harm these cute animals at all). For more details on this wonderful fibre click here.

Are all your Mohair and Alpaca throws, knee rugs & blankets made in New Zealand?
Most definitely! We are passionate about New Zealand made products, and all our gloves, scarves, socks, knee rugs, throws and blankets are manufactured right here in New Zealand. We are members of the Buy NZ made campaign and all of our products display the Kiwi in a triangle, so you can be certain you are buying quality New Zealand made products.
I’ve seen other Mohair throws for under $100, are they as good as yours?
The quick answer is NO as the majority of these throws are a mohair blend, which means they have a small percentage of mohair (sometimes only 20%!) mixed with acrylic, nylon and some wool. So while at a quick glance the look and colour could be OK, you just aren’t going to benefit from the wonderful warmth, durability and lustre that our New Zealand made mohair throws provide. All our New Zealand made mohair throws are all labelled clearly with 100% Mohair Pile and where they are manufactured. If quality, warmth and long lasting is important, look closely at the label for 100% Mohair Pile and you won’t be left wondering why your throw isn’t keeping you warm.
How Do I Buy One of your Throws?
The best way is to come into our store in Christchurch so you can experience the whole range & also grab a bargain on our Seconds, End of Lines, Factory Samples & more in store only specials. If you are unable to get to our store then just call us on 03 943 1639 between 10am – 5pm Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm Saturday, email or leave a message after hours and we’ll call you back.
We accept payment by credit card (Mastercard and Visa only). This can be processed by calling the store and we can do this for you over the phone and get your product couriered out the next day.

How will my product be delivered and what is the price?
All orders are sent with Castle Parcels who offer a fast and reliable service within New Zealand. They have a wonderful tracking system so we always know where our parcels are. If you like, we can email you your tracking number so that you may be able to track your package online within transit. All packages sent within New Zealand are sent with the requirement for signature on delivery. If you find it more convenient for courier items to be left in the mailbox, you can specify that signature is not required. Please note that we cannot accept any responsibility for items that go missing when the signature on delivery option has been cancelled by the customer.
Please use a physical address, as Castle Parcels can not deliver to a PO Box.
$10 Postage & Packaging for any throw, knee rug or blanket
$5 Postage & Packaging for any smaller item such as Gloves & Scarves
How soon will my order arrive?
Your order will be dispatched within 2 – 4 working days of placing it. If you have a specific deadline that needs to be met, please let us know and we will do our best to ensure it’s met. The majority of the time we will get the order out the next day.
What is your returns/exchange policy?
Here at The Mohair Store we want you to be 100% happy with your purchase and not hide anything away in the cupboard because the colour wasn’t right or it just didn’t suit the room as you thought it would… we understand!
So, if you are not 100% satisfied (regardless of your reason) you can return your purchase for an exchange or full refund (this only applies to full priced purchases), along with your receipt within 14 days of purchase. Please make sure you use a tracking service as you are responsible for the returned item. Goods must be unused, in original packaging with tags attached. With the exception of faulty goods we cannot refund postage and packaging.

What if I’ve been sent the wrong item?
Whoops…and in the unlikely event that this occurs, please contact us within 14 days of receipt to arrange return and replacement delivery.

The Mohair Store does not collect or store any credit card information. The Mohair Store will not share your personal information with any other third party. We will never disclose your email address or any other personal information to any third party.
